On October 17, 2024, our school had the honor of welcoming a representative from the Always Pad Company, Ms. Zenele, to speak with the girls of Grade 6 about an essential topic: menstrual hygiene and health.
This visit took place in our school hall and provided an important opportunity to educate and empower our young learners, fostering an open dialogue about a natural part of their lives. Ms. Zenele began the session by addressing the significance of understanding menstruation. With warmth and clarity, she emphasized that menstruation is a normal, healthy process experienced by many girls.
During the presentation, several key areas were highlighted. Ms. Zenele explained the menstrual cycle in an age-appropriate way, helping learners understand the changes their bodies will go through. This foundational knowledge is crucial for building confidence and comfort with their bodies. The importance of hygiene during menstruation was emphasized, including the proper use of sanitary products.
The visit culminated in an interactive Q&A session, where learners eagerly participated, asking questions and sharing their experiences. Ms. Zenele’s approachable nature helped dispel any lingering embarrassment, making it clear that menstruation is nothing to be ashamed of. The visit from Ms. Zenele at the Always Pad Company was a pivotal moment for our Grade 6 girls. By providing them with vital information and fostering an open dialogue about menstrual health, we are helping to empower them as they navigate this new stage of life.
Initiatives like this play a crucial role in creating a culture of understanding and support, ensuring that young women feel confident and informed about their bodies. We look forward to more opportunities like this in the future
