Stop the Bullying Campaign at Our School

Nazli George and Dr. Brenda Matthews Launch “Stop the Bullying” Campaign at Our School.

On the 11th of October 2024, in a powerful collaboration aimed at combating bullying, SAFTA award-winning actress Nazli George—famed for her roles as Aunty Ivy in 7de Laan and Ragel in Skermergrond on KykNET—joined forces with Dr. Brenda Matthews. Together, they are spearheading the “Stop the Bullying” campaign, making a significant impact at schools across Cape Town, including our school.

Recently, Nazli George and a fellow actor visited our school to deliver an engaging presentation that captivated the learners in the school hall. Their performance, presented in the form of a lively play, not only entertained but also educated the learners about the serious implications of bullying. The play showcased various bullying scenarios, illustrating the emotional and psychological impact on victims. Through relatable characters and dynamic storytelling, George and her acting counterpart held the learners’ attention, sparking conversations about empathy, kindness, and the importance of standing up against bullying.

Nazli George’s enthusiasm and commitment to the cause shone through during the performance. She emphasized that bullying affects individuals and communities alike, urging learners to be allies and advocates for one another. The message was clear: everyone has a role to play in creating a safe and supportive school environment. Dr. Brenda Matthews, who is spearheading the campaign, believes that initiatives like these are vital in raising awareness and fostering a culture of respect among learners. By engaging them in an interactive and entertaining manner, the “Stop the Bullying” campaign aims to leave a lasting impression on young minds.

As the performance concluded, the learners were left with a powerful takeaway: bullying is not just a schoolyard issue; it’s a societal challenge that requires collective action. With the support of influential figures like Nazli George and Dr. Matthews, the campaign aims to inspire change not just in our school, but throughout the entire community. As they continue their tour across Cape Town, the “Stop the Bullying” campaign promises to be a beacon of hope, empowering learners to stand against bullying and fostering a culture of understanding and support. With the right tools and messages, a brighter, bully-free future is within reach.
