On Thursday, 23 April 2026, Balvenie Primary School came alive with colour and creativity as learners and educators celebrated World Book Character Day.
Learners from across all grades enthusiastically dressed up as their favourite book characters, transforming the school into a vibrant showcase of well-loved stories. From classic fairy tale figures to modern-day heroes, the wide variety of costumes reflected the learners’ imagination and love for reading.
The day formed part of the school’s ongoing efforts to promote literacy and encourage a passion for books. Educators used the opportunity to engage learners in reading activities, storytelling sessions, and discussions about their chosen characters, further deepening their appreciation for literature.
World Book Character Day was not only a fun and exciting experience, but also a meaningful way to highlight the importance of reading in education. The event fostered creativity, boosted confidence, and inspired learners to explore new stories and authors.
Balvenie Primary continues to prioritise initiatives that make learning enjoyable while nurturing a lifelong love for reading among its learners.
