From Monday, 7 September to Friday, 11 September 2026, our school celebrated National Book Week with a wonderful initiative that brought our learners together through the joy of reading.
As part of the weekβs activities, our Intersen Phase learners from Grades 5β7 had the opportunity to read stories to our Foundation Phase learners in Grades 1β3.
The reading sessions created a special opportunity for our older learners to share their love of books while encouraging our younger learners to discover the excitement and magic that stories can bring.
It was wonderful to see our Grade 5β7 learners confidently take on the role of young storytellers and reading role models, while our younger learners listened with enthusiasm and curiosity. The sessions not only promoted a love for reading but also encouraged confidence, communication, imagination and positive relationships between our different phases.
A heartfelt well done to all our learners and educators who contributed to making National Book Week a memorable and meaningful experience.
At Balvenie Primary, we believe that every story opens a door to a new world. Letβs keep turning the pages, discovering new adventures and growing through the power of reading!
Happy Reading!
