About our Reading Club

reading club is “a place where people who love stories and books meet regularly to read, tell stories and talk about what they are reading with children of all ages

Purpose of the reading club:

Primarily, the purpose of the Reading Club is to create an opportunity for people to become enthusiastic and enthralled with the wonderful world of literature. 

By organizing a reading group it allows people to share the various subjective illusions and opinions generated. The group shall reflect, discuss and debate through the limitless possibilities and meanings that a wide range of international literature has to offer.

Secondly, the Reading Club shall enable the participants to increase their exposure to the native English language thereby giving them a first class opportunity to improve their standard of English listening, reading and speaking

Aim of the reading club:

  • To arouse students’ interest in reading.
  • To promote improved reading and learning skills in school children.
  • To develop the library resources of the schools through book donations.

When it will take place: 

In term 2

Plans for the reading club:

Advertise the reading club to all learners in the school. Each teacher should encourage learners to join voluntarily. If teachers see learners are not joining then identify learners in the grade to join the reading club. The reading club has members that are selected to mentor each grade/ they will take their groups to the library on specific days preferably for 45 minutes after school.

Join competitions.

Resources that will be used:

Make use of the library or reading corners in classrooms.

End result of Reading club: 

To get learner’s to be a part of a club that improves their skills. 

Issue certificates for being part of the reading club, as a reward.
