As always, the assembly brought our school community together, giving us a chance to reflect, connect, and grow as one.
This weekβs focus was on our Value of the Month for March β Kindness . Mr Smith shared an inspiring message about how kindness is more than just being friendly or polite. It is about showing empathy, offering help without being asked, and choosing to do what is right even when no one is watching. He reminded us that even the smallest acts β a smile, encouraging words, helping someone carry their books, or including someone who feels left out β can make a huge difference in someoneβs day
.
The message of kindness tied in beautifully with the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) school mantra: βEnter to learn, leave to serve.β This powerful motto encourages us to come to school each day ready to gain knowledge, skills, and wisdom, but also to remember that education is not just for personal success β it is to prepare us to serve others and make a positive impact in our communities
.
Mr Smith explained that kindness is one of the simplest and strongest forms of service. When we choose to be kind, we are already living out the mantra. By entering school with open minds and hearts ready to learn, we equip ourselves to one day leave as responsible, compassionate individuals who uplift and serve others .
He encouraged us to actively practise kindness throughout the month of March and beyond. Some ways we can do this include:
Helping a classmate who may be struggling with their work
Speaking respectfully and positively to everyone
Being patient and understanding
Standing up for what is right
Showing gratitude and appreciation every day
Kindness creates a ripple effect. One good deed can inspire another, spreading positivity throughout our entire school. When we are kind, we build stronger friendships, create a safer environment, and make our school a place where everyone feels valued and respected .
As we reflect on this important message, we are reminded of how blessed we are to learn and grow together. May we continue to show compassion, serve others wholeheartedly, and live out our school mantra in all that we do.
We end off by thanking the Almighty for guiding us, strengthening us, and giving us the opportunity to learn, to serve, and to spread kindness wherever we go.
